First of all, we’d like to discuss the design of this electric can opener. In black and grey, it looks fantastic. It is quite big, but it is modern and sleek in appearance. On the front of the can opener you will see the rotating blade which will open the can, the metal bottle opener and the knife sharpener.
Setting up this electric can opener couldn’t be easier. All we had to do was plug it in. There is no setup required thanks to the automatic start and stop function. To test out the can opener feature, all we had to do was place the can under the blade to start the motor.
What we really liked was the magnetic lid holder. This keeps the lid that you have removed safely secured so that you can dispose of it properly. There is no risk of injury with this. The only thing that we did find is that the can opener can be a little temperamental. Whilst it did open most of the cans that we tried, it struggled with some of the smaller cans.
The bottle opener is located in such a way that opening your bottle takes a matter of seconds. The fact that the unit is so secure means that you don’t have to put much effort in to open your bottle at all. We also tested out the knife sharpener. We were actually very surprised with how effective it was; it sharpened blades with ease.

The first thing that we loved about this Kenwood electric can opener is the chrome finish. We found that the can opener looks really stylish and modern which is just what you want. You can really feel that the appliance has been well built using high quality materials. It is nice and heavy; it doesn’t feel cheap at all.
Looking at the front of the can opener you will see the rotating motorised blade, the bottle opener and the knife sharpener. Once we had a proper look at the overall design, it was time to test the opener and its other functions. First of all, we had to plug in the appliance to set it up.
As with most appliances like this, there is no setup required, it is simply a matter of plugging it in and you are ready to go. The first thing that we tried was the can opener itself. We tried both big and small cans of different shapes and we were really pleased to report that the can opener didn’t struggle with any of them; it opened every can that we tried with ease.
The only complaint that we have about the can opener is that it is a little noisy, so may be problematic if you have a sleeping infant in the house. Other than that, there is nothing to complain about with the can opener function at all. Both the knife sharpener and the bottle opener were highly effective and we had no trouble using these features either.
As with most mid-range to high-end electric can openers, this one has a magnetic lid holder that will hold the removed lid in place until you are ready to dispose of it properly. This is much safer. Overall, we have to say that we were really impressed with this electric can opener from Kenwood and we would definitely recommend it. The only real downside is that it is a little more expensive.

When we first took a look at the design for this Morphy Richards electric can opener, we were a little sceptical about its performance. It looks a little different to what you would usually expect from an appliance like this. However, we were so impressed with its overall performance.
First of all, we like the non-slip feet that are attached to the bottom of this can opener. This completely eliminates the risk of any accidents or spillages occurring when you are using it. At the top of the device you will see a removable grey circular piece of plastic.
This is actually one of the 6 tools that are built into this can opener. It can be removed and placed around the outside of a jar lid, giving you perfect grip. We were so impressed with this feature as we were able to remove stubborn lids in seconds.
We also really liked the pull tab opener; we can imagine that this would make things much easier for those who suffer with joint conditions that make using the hands difficult. The knife sharpener and bottle opener were equally as effective and we were able to use them all with ease.
As for the can opener itself, it is simply a matter of placing your can underneath the rotating blade which will automatically activate the motor. Once your can is opened, the magnetic lid retainer will hold your can lid until you are ready to dispose of it.
