BestReviews.co.uk is an independent, UK-based buying-guide site with one operating rule: we don't publish a claim we can't link to. Our rankings are built by reading what real owners say in public discussions — Mumsnet, MoneySavingExpert, AVForums, Coffee Forums UK and other UK communities — and every quote on this site links to the original thread so you can verify it yourself.

We deliberately publish no bylines. Rather than ask you to trust a name and a headshot, we show our working: the sources are on every page, one click away. Judge us on whether the threads say what we say they say.

Our methodology

1. We read the discussions. For each category we work through UK forum and community threads where owners talk about products they've lived with — not unboxing impressions, but "two years in, here's what broke" experience.
2. We look for consensus, not anecdotes. A product makes our shortlist when multiple independent owners across separate threads recommend it. A single enthusiastic post is noise; the same model praised across many unrelated conversations is signal.
3. We record the dissent too. Common complaints go in each product's cons and "what owners say" sections — including for products we rank highly.
4. We cite everything. Every quote links to its source thread. Where wording comes from a search-engine snippet of a thread rather than the full page, we paraphrase and label it "(paraphrased)". If we can't source a claim, we don't publish it.
5. We refresh. Each guide shows its research date, and we re-run the research periodically — community opinion moves (and companies fail: when the community's old budget favourite for water softeners ceased trading, our guide said so rather than quietly keeping the recommendation).

Editorial standards

• No fabricated quotes, usernames, or sources — ever. Fewer verified quotes always beats invented ones.
• Rankings are set before affiliate links are attached, and commission rates play no part in ordering.
• Products we link to are ones UK owners actually recommend; we don't pad lists to add more links.
• We disclose clearly on every page where affiliate links appear.
• We don't accept payment for placement, and no brand sees or influences a guide before publication.

How we make money

BestReviews.co.uk participates in the Amazon EU Associates Programme. When you buy through a product link, we may earn a small commission at no extra cost to you. Our cost-guide pages may also carry links to quote services. That's the whole model — no sponsored posts, no paid placements. Because our rankings must match what the linked community threads say, skewing them for commission would be immediately visible to any reader who clicks a source.

Corrections

If we've misquoted a thread, mis-stated a spec, or a recommendation has gone stale (product discontinued, firm ceased trading, better consensus emerged), tell us and we'll fix it. Corrections that change a ranking are noted on the affected guide. Contact details below.
