If you notice that your water has turned brown, you need to add chlorine bleach.

  1. Add one capful (5 ml) of household chlorine bleach per gallon (0.9 L) of water.
  2. Let the water sit for at least 15 minutes before testing its pH level.
  3. If the pH level is above 7, you do not need to add more chlorine bleach.
